It transcends and includes Carl Rogers' philosophy that we each have the resources within to understand and heal ourselves. When we steep ourselves in the more expansive consciousness held by our Coach, our access to personal insights grows.

Coaching Typology
Coaching has been evolving. Skills-based Coaching invites us to practice and rehearse to enhance our presentation and communication skills.
Performance Coaching focuses on goals to be achieved e.g., using one of the most well-known coaching methodologies: GROW - Goal, Reality, Options, Way forward. They offer development in the 3rd Perspective to Achievist.
Developmental Coaching takes us to the inner self to increase self-awareness and self-regulation. Success is thought to depend on the nature of the coaching relationship rather than the coaching goals as these are more esoteric.
However, without systemic dynamics, shadow resolution and active transformative leadership, Developmental Coaching only has the power to take a client to the vertical Stage of Catalyst. Thus the need for Transformative Coaching.


Shift in the Coaching Dialogue
In a Coaching conversation, the theme or challenge under discussion is brought by the client executive. That's the value of coaching, it's all about the person, their challenges and dilemmas, their opportunities and aspirations.
In Developmental Coaching, the coach offers inquiry and reflection, synthesis and strategies. In Transformative Coaching, the theme moves into the we-space held between the coach and client. Now they are both accessing a deeper well of transformative potential.
The StageSHIFT Coach's refined understanding of systemic shadow enables them to diagnose the psychodynamics that underpin reactive patterns and emotional triggers in gestalt fashion. These profound revelations deepen self-awareness.
The Expanded Role of the Coach
Transformative coaching is human-centric. It's no longer just a professional relationship but a clinical personal relationship. The Coach is themselves a sensor and living embodiment of clues and indicators offering insights and a more nuanced understanding of the dynamics at stake.
They are Coach, Companion, Counsellor Consultant, Mentor and Guide to support, encourage and show Executives how they might most effectively navigate the external situation and resolve and heal the inner dynamics that are manifesting externally to eliminate reenactment.
